Bangladesh Army Chief General Waker-Uz-Zaman is exploring options to remove Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus from power, say sources. The army is unhappy with the delay in elections and may use constitutional rules to challenge Yunus’s interim government. The military wants to bring political parties together and push for elections soon. If needed, the army may ask President Mohammed Shahabuddin to declare a state of emergency and dissolve the interim government. General Zaman has support from navy and air force leaders and is raising public pressure against Yunus, calling his policies a threat to national stability. (PC: News18)
