India has intensified its push for AI leadership through the IndiaAI Mission by expanding its compute capacity to over 34,000 GPUs. This includes a recent procurement of 16,000 GPUs to support the development of indigenous large language models (LLMs). Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw announced the initiative, highlighting its goal to democratize AI access across startups, researchers, and institutions. Subsidized AI compute access and support for Indian AI startups like Soket AI, Gan AI, and Gnani AI will drive innovations tailored to India’s diverse linguistic and cultural needs in sectors like healthcare, defense, and education.
