On June 1, 2025, Israeli forces opened fire at two U.S.-backed Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF) aid distribution sites in Rafah and near the Netzarim Corridor, killing at least 32 Palestinians and injuring over 200 others. Civilians had gathered for food aid when tanks reportedly fired from around 300 meters away. The Israeli military denied knowledge of civilian casualties and said it is investigating. GHF also dismissed casualty reports. The incident has drawn sharp criticism from the UN and humanitarian groups, underscoring Gaza’s worsening humanitarian crisis, with over 54,000 dead and 90% displaced since 2023. (PC: Al Jazeera)
