Violent protests broke out in Manipur on Saturday evening, leading to internet suspension and curfew in Bishnupur district. Prohibitory orders were also issued in Imphal East, Imphal West, Thoubal, and Kakching. The government said internet will be shut for 5 days from June 7 to stop the spread of rumours and hate messages. The protests began after five Arambai Tenggol members were arrested. Angry crowds stormed a police post in Imphal West. Police fired shots to control them. Three people, including two journalists, were hurt. In Moreh town, protests also took place, but no violence was reported. The state remains tense. (PC: PTI)
