An Indian student in the US was tricked by scammers posing as ICE officers. Shreya Bedi, studying in Indiana, got a call on May 29. The caller said she broke immigration laws and would be arrested. She was told to stay on the call and not speak to anyone. Scared, she bought $5,000 worth of gift cards and shared the codes. She later realised it was a scam. Shreya is now raising money on GoFundMe. ICE has warned people not to trust such calls. Impersonating ICE officers is a serious crime under US law. Many such scams are being reported.
