At around 9:30 AM on June 9, 2025 eight passengers fell from an overcrowded Mumbai suburban train traveling between Diva and Mumbra stations en route to Kasara, with four declared dead on arrival and six seriously injured. Commuters were reportedly hanging from footboards and doors when, near a sharp curve, two trains brushing past each other caused passengers to lose balance and fall. The deceased, aged between 30–35 including a GRP constable were rushed to Shivaji and Thane General Hospitals. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis described the incident as “very unfortunate”, ordered a high‑level inquiry, and pledged financial aid for families. In response, the Railway Board announced automatic door‑closure retrofits across all Mumbai local rakes. (PC: Economic Times & Hindustan Times)
