Orange Alert Declared In Delhi Till 12th June As Heat‑Index Surges Near 49 °C

Delhi sweltered on June  9–10 as the India Meteorological Department warned of escalating heatwave conditions. Monday’s actual maximum hit was 43.4 °C (above normal) while the real‑feel (heat‑index) surged to 48.9 °C, nearly 49 °C. The IMD issued an orange alert for Delhi and adjacent states from June 10 to 11, followed by yellow alerts through June 13. Humidity hovered between 25–48 %, intensifying discomfort. Night‑time lows remained elevated (~27.6–28 °C), raising health concerns. Delhi’s Air Quality Index worsened to 235, deemed “poor”.
