California Governor Gavin Newsom has filed an emergency court request to block President Donald Trump’s deployment of 4,000 National Guard troops and 700 Marines to Los Angeles for immigration raids. Newsom's move follows protests over mass deportations. He accused Trump of using troops to “stroke his ego,” calling the deployment reckless. The Marines haven’t yet responded to protests and are currently protecting federal buildings. The LAPD says it doesn't need federal help, while the Pentagon claims the mission costs $134 million.
