Los Angeles imposed a 10-hour curfew starting 8pm after five days of protests sparked by immigration raids and police violence. Mayor Karen Bass announced the curfew following widespread looting downtown. California Governor Gavin Newsom condemned former President Donald Trump for “inflaming” tensions, while Trump called the protests an “assault on peace.” Police used rubber bullets to disperse remaining crowds, reportedly injuring protesters. Press were also threatened with arrest despite being exempt. In Texas, the governor deployed the National Guard in anticipation of similar protests.
