The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert for Delhi-NCR as temperatures surged past 45°C on Wednesday. Ayanagar recorded 45.5°C, while Safdarjung hit 43.8°C. The alert, in effect for June 11 and 12, warns of a severe heatwave across Delhi, Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, and Rajasthan. “Heatwave conditions are likely at many places across Delhi-NCR,” said IMD. Relief may arrive by June 13 as a western disturbance could bring light rain and thunderstorms. IMD predicts the red alert will shift to orange by Friday. Residents are advised to stay indoors and avoid prolonged exposure to the sun. (PC: PTI)
