An Air India London-bound Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner crashed near Ahmedabad’s Meghani area shortly after take-off on Thursday. The aircraft, operating as AI 171, was headed to Gatwick Airport with 242 people on board, including 230 passengers and 12 crew members. The crash occurred minutes after the 1:10 pm departure from Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport. Thick black smoke engulfed the crash site as seven fire engines and emergency teams launched rescue operations. Authorities have not yet confirmed casualties. Visuals from the scene show wreckage scattered across fields. The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has initiated an investigation.
