The Air India aircraft that crashed near Ahmedabad on Thursday was a Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner, flight AI 171 to London. Carrying 230 passengers and 12 crew, the plane went down shortly after takeoff. Known for its long-haul capabilities and advanced safety systems, the Dreamliner typically seats 242–290 and can fly over 13,000 km non-stop. It features fly-by-wire controls, Synthetic Vision System, and a composite lightweight body for fuel efficiency.
