A tragic crash on June 12, 2025: Air India Flight AI171, a Boeing 787‑8 Dreamliner, departed Ahmedabad for London with 230 passengers and 12 crew. Moments after takeoff, the jet lost altitude, crashed into the BJ Medical College hostel during lunchtime—engulfing the building in flames. Out of 242 onboard, only one passenger, seated at an emergency exit, survived. At least 28 individuals on the ground, including MBBS students, a resident doctor and a doctor’s wife, also died; dozens were injured. Victims include former Gujarat CM Vijay Rupani, flight attendants and four MBBS students.
