Investigators have recovered the black box and digital video recorder (DVR) from the wreckage of Air India Flight AI171, which crashed in Ahmedabad, killing 270 people. Despite a 1000°C inferno, the black box survived due to its titanium casing, insulation, and fireproof engineering. It can endure forces up to 3,400 Gs and temperatures of 1,100°C for an hour. The recovered DVR also contains critical cockpit and cabin footage. Experts will now analyse data at Delhi’s specialised laboratory to determine mechanical failures or human error. The black box remains vital in aviation safety by helping prevent future tragedies. (PC: India Today)
