The Boeing 787, en route to London, crashed into a medical college hostel, killing 265 people, including 24 on the ground. Rescue teams in PPE struggled as debris was still simmering. A senior fire official compared the blaze to volcanic lava. Only one person survived. SDRF responders described it as the worst disaster they had faced.
