In response to the June 4 stampede that killed 11 people and injured 64 during RCB’s victory celebrations, the Karnataka government has proposed the Karnataka Crowd Control Bill, 2025. The bill, discussed in a cabinet meeting, aims to regulate large public gatherings. It proposes penalties of up to 3 years’ imprisonment and a ₹5,000 fine for violations. However, the legislation will exempt traditional and religious events like fairs, chariot processions, and Urs festivals. The draft law is expected to be approved in the next cabinet session as the state seeks to prevent future crowd-related tragedies. (PC: India Today)
