Israel Says Iran’s Arak Reactor ‘Neutralised’; IAEA Confirms No Nuclear Material Present

Israel claimed to have "neutralised" Iran’s Arak nuclear reactor in Khondab, alleging it was designed for bomb-making. The Israel Defense Forces released a video of the strike, calling the reactor a threat. However, the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) contradicted the claim, confirming the reactor was under construction, inactive, and contained no nuclear material. The IAEA stated there is no radiological risk. The Arak facility was redesigned under the 2015 nuclear deal to reduce proliferation risks, but Iran resumed some activities after the US pulled out in 2018. The strike adds to escalating tensions between Israel and Iran. (PC: AFP)
