Following the recovery of both black boxes from the ill-fated Air India Express flight IX1344 crash, the Ministry of Civil Aviation issued a formal clarification amid rising speculation over whether the data recorders would be sent abroad for decoding. The ministry emphasized that only the Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB) has the authority to decide the location for decoding the Cockpit Voice Recorder (CVR) and Flight Data Recorder (FDR). The decision will be based on technical feasibility, safety, and equipment capability. The first black box was retrieved on June 13, and the second on June 16. (PC: Reuters)
