Air India CEO Campbell Wilson said the Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner that crashed in Ahmedabad on June 12 was in good condition. “The plane was well-maintained,” he said, adding its last major check was in June 2023. The crash killed 270 people, including passengers, crew, and locals, after the flight hit a medical hostel. “Both engines were inspected in 2025 and showed no issues before takeoff,” Wilson said. To ensure safety, Air India will now carry out extra checks on all Boeing 787 and 777 planes. “We’re also cutting 15% of international flights until mid-July,” he said, apologising for the inconvenience.
