Group Captain Shubhanshu Shukla, the second Indian to travel to space, launched aboard the Axiom-4 mission from Florida’s Kennedy Space Centre on June 25 at 12:01 pm IST. To mark the moment, he played Yun Hi Chala Chal from Shah Rukh Khan’s film Swades, echoing the journey of a NASA scientist returning to serve India. Shukla, piloting the NASA-backed SpaceX Dragon spacecraft, said from orbit, “Tricolour tells me I am with you all.” He is the first Indian in 41 years to travel to space, after Rakesh Sharma’s historic flight in 1984.
