A powerful storm forced Delta Air Lines to inspect over 100 aircraft after severe thunderstorms battered Atlanta on Friday, disrupting operations at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL). Lightning, hail, and strong winds led to a temporary evacuation and power loss at the air traffic control tower. The FAA issued a flash flood warning, and more than 380 Delta flights were cancelled on Saturday. Delta completed aircraft inspections by Saturday morning but warned of continued delays as crews reset operations. Delta’s Erik Snell apologized for the inconvenience, with teams working to restore reliability across the airline’s major US operations. (PC: NDTV)
