Heavy moonsoon rains have wreaked havoc across Himachal Pradesh, resulting in 69 deaths and an estimated ₹700 crore in damages. The state has been battered by intense rainfall since late June, triggering 29 landslides and 72 flash floods across districts including Mandi, Shimla, Chamba, and Kullu. Several houses were swept away, roads and bridges destroyed, and power and water supply systems disrupted. Over 100 people are injured, and rescue operations by NDRF, SDRF, and local authorities are underway. The IMD has issued a continued heavy rain alert till July 7, urging caution in vulnerable areas.
