Olympic champion Neeraj Chopra is set to headline the inaugural Neeraj Chopra Classic on July 5 at Bengaluru’s Sree Kanteerava Stadium—India's first international gold‑level javelin meet . The global field includes 2016 Olympic gold medallist Thomas Röhler and 2015 World champion Julius Yego alongside top Indian throwers Sachin Yadav, Rohit Yadav, Sahil Silwal, and Yashvir Singh . Chopra, who recently exceeded 90 m in Doha (90.23 m), aims to spark a series of elite competitions in India . Only 1.6 % of elite throws clear 90m—a rare feat Chopra could repeat at home . The event, co‑organized with JSW Sports and AFI, is a pivotal moment for Indian athletics. (PC: PTI)
