Neeraj Chopra inaugurated India’s first-ever international javelin event, the Neeraj Chopra Classic at Bengaluru’s Sree Kanteerava Stadium on July 5. Amid overcast skies and roaring crowds, top athletes like Julius Yego (KEN), Thomas Röhler (GER), Rumesh Pathirage (SRI), and India’s Sachin Yadav took the field. Neeraj’s opening attempt was fouled, but his second throw of 82.99 m catapulted him into the lead. Sri Lanka’s Pathirage briefly displaced him with an 84.34 m mark, only for Chopra to respond with an 86.18 m third attempt.
