PM Modi announced ex-gratia compensation of ₹2 lakh each for the families of those killed and ₹50,000 for the injured from the PM's National Relief Fund. The Gambhira-Mujpur bridge, linking Vadodara and Anand districts, collapsed during morning traffic, plunging several vehicles into the Mahisagar River.
