Thailand’s internet-famous baby hippo Moo Deng turned one on Thursday, drawing thousands to the Khao Kheow Open Zoo in Chonburi for a four-day celebration. Moo Deng, whose name means “bouncing pig,” enjoyed a 20-kg fruit cake with her mother Jona while fans attended a parade, photo exhibition, and charity auction. The pygmy hippo rose to global fame in 2024, inspiring merchandise, memes, and fan art. A cast of her footprints sold for 700,000 baht, and her old bathtub fetched 50,000 baht. All auction proceeds support wildlife conservation. “I love Moo Deng so much,” said winning bidder Mucharim Chutimatipakorn.
