Tesla is officially entering the Indian market with its first experience centre in Mumbai’s Bandra-Kurla Complex, launching on July 15, 2025 . The EV maker has already imported approximately $1 million worth of vehicles and gear, including at least five Model Y SUVs from its Shanghai factory, each declared at ₹2.77 lakh ($31,988) and incurring import duties of over ₹2.1 lakh (70% tariff) . Deliveries to customers are expected to begin by late August. Tesla plans a second showroom in Delhi and has ramped up hiring across India—but currently has no plans to manufacture locally.
