Shubhanshu Shukla Undocks From ISS, Begins 21-Hour Time Travel Back To Earth After Historic Mission

Indian astronaut Group Captain Shubhanshu Shukla undocked from the International Space Station (ISS) aboard SpaceX’s Dragon capsule, starting his 21-hour journey back to Earth. The Ax-4 mission is set to end with a Pacific Ocean splashdown off California at 3:00 pm IST on July 15. Shukla, the first Indian on the ISS, contributed to 60 experiments on plant growth, AI, and human biology during his 18-day mission. Reflecting on India’s progress, he said, “Today’s India still looks ‘saare jahan se accha’.” Post-landing, he and the crew will undergo rehabilitation for re-adaptation to Earth’s gravity.
