Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Monday said his government will move the Supreme Court after the Bombay High Court acquitted all 12 accused in the 2006 Mumbai train blasts case. Calling the verdict “shocking”, Fadnavis said the state is committed to pursuing justice for the 189 people killed. A special bench found the prosecution “failed to prove guilt beyond reasonable doubt.” Five men had been sentenced to death and seven to life by a trial court in 2015. One accused died of COVID-19 in 2021. The government will now challenge the acquittals in India’s top court. (PC: News18)
