The Centre informed Lok Sabha that the CBI will probe Reliance Communications and Anil Ambani after State Bank of India (SBI) classified them as ‘fraud’ over unpaid dues worth ₹2,227 crore. SBI had initially marked the account as fraud in 2020, but a Delhi High Court stay delayed action. The classification was re-applied in 2025 after following RBI guidelines. SBI has reported the fraud to RBI and is proceeding with a formal complaint to CBI. RCom remains under insolvency proceedings at NCLT Mumbai. SBI has also filed a personal insolvency case against Ambani under the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code. (PC: NDTV)
