Congress leader Jairam Ramesh slammed PM Modi after US President Donald Trump announced a 25% tariff on Indian goods starting August 1. Ramesh accused Modi of staying silent despite Trump’s repeated claims of halting Operation Sindoor and hosting a Pakistan Army Chief after the Pahalgam terror attack. He mocked the “Howdy Modi” event and said Modi expected favours from the US by ignoring insults. Trump justified the tariffs, accusing India of high trade barriers and close Russia ties.
