On August 14, 2025, a devastating cloudburst struck Chishoti village in Kishtwar district, Jammu and Kashmir, during the Machail Mata pilgrimage. The sudden flash floods swept away a community kitchen and several structures, resulting in at least 46 confirmed deaths, including two CISF personnel. Over 200 individuals remain missing, and more than 100 are injured. Rescue operations are underway, involving the NDRF, SDRF, Army, and local volunteers.
