The sudden torrential rains triggered flash floods and landslides, causing widespread destruction. A community kitchen serving pilgrims and a security post were swept away, with many people believed to have been inside at the time. Rescue operations by local police, disaster response teams, and military units have saved over 300 individuals, with more than 50 seriously injured.
