Heavy rain lashed Mumbai on Monday, forcing schools to shut and disrupting daily life. The India Meteorological Department issued an orange alert for the city and a red alert for nearby districts, including Raigad, Ratnagiri, and Kolhapur. Waterlogging was reported in Sion and traffic jams hit major roads like the Western Expressway. “As heavy rainfall continues under the Orange Alert, incidents of waterlogging and reduced visibility are being reported,” said the Mumbai Police Chief, urging people to avoid unnecessary travel. Airlines also advised passengers to leave early for flights. The BMC reported tree falls, wall collapses, and short circuits across the city. (PC: India Today)
