Mumbai received 300 mm of rain in 24 hours, bringing the city to a halt. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis warned the next 48 hours are critical for Mumbai, Thane, Raigad, Ratnagiri and Sindhudurg. Over 500 flights were delayed or cancelled, while Central Railway services were suspended on key routes due to waterlogged tracks. The Mithi river crossed danger levels, forcing evacuation of 500 people. Schools, colleges and most offices remained shut. Several roads, underpasses and highways were flooded, leaving vehicles stranded. The India Meteorological Department has issued a red alert, and citizens are advised to avoid unnecessary travel.
