Shimla Municipal Corporation has initiated a pioneering project to fit stray dogs with GPS-enabled collars containing QR codes, digitally recording their location, vaccination status, and other details. This initiative, aimed at reducing rabies-related fatalities and improving public safety, has already vaccinated over 2,000 dogs. Aggressive dogs are identified with red tags for separate handling. The program also includes a massive sterilization campaign and the first dog census in India. Participating organizations from across India are contributing to this effort, which is expected to set a precedent for other cities. (PC: ANI)
