Israel has stepped up air and ground attacks on Gaza City as it prepares for a major offensive. Nearly 1 million Palestinians remain trapped in the city, with the UN warning of a severe humanitarian disaster. In the past 24 hours, 64 people were killed and nearly 300 injured, Gaza’s health ministry said. Israeli strikes targeted Zeitoun, Shejayia, and Sabra, while tanks fired on crowded neighborhoods. Israel says its goal is to defeat Hamas and rescue hostages, but calls for a ceasefire continue. The WHO confirmed one of its staff held in Gaza was released by Israeli forces. (PC: BBC)
