At least 32 people were killed after a massive landslide struck the Vaishno Devi shrine route in Jammu and Kashmir’s Reasi district on Tuesday. The yatra was suspended as rocks and boulders crashed down around 3 pm. Heavy rains across north India triggered flash floods in Jammu, Kashmir, Punjab, and Himachal Pradesh, forcing the evacuation of thousands. Over 3,500 residents in Jammu were moved to safety. Officials reported damage to bridges, houses, and shops. Authorities issued fresh alerts to Pakistan about possible flooding in the Tawi river after dams released excess water.
