Denmark has summoned the top US diplomat in Copenhagen after reports of secret US-linked influence campaigns in Greenland. Danish broadcaster DR said Americans tried to promote Greenland’s secession from Denmark and closer ties with the US. Foreign Minister Lars Lokke Rasmussen said interference in the kingdom’s affairs is “unacceptable.” Denmark’s intelligence agency warned of “influence campaigns” aimed at creating discord between Denmark and Greenland. President Trump has often spoken about taking Greenland, while Danish leaders strongly oppose it. Greenland has self-rule but foreign and defense policies remain with Denmark.
