On August 29, 2025, Prime Minister Narendra Modi appointed two new members and reappointed three existing members to the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) for a three-year term. The new appointees are scientist Dinesh Kumar Aswal and disaster recovery expert Rita Missal. The reappointed members are Rajendra Singh, Krishna Swaroop Vatsa, and Lt Gen Syed Ata Hasnain (Retd). The NDMA, chaired by the Prime Minister, is responsible for laying down policies, plans, and guidelines for disaster management in India. (PC: PTI)
