Nepal’s Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu was shut on Tuesday as violent protests filled the city with smoke from fires. The protests, driven by Gen Z students against corruption and a social media ban, forced air traffic disruption. Arrival of planes from the southern side was halted due to poor visibility. Two IndiGo flights, one from Delhi and another from Mumbai, were diverted to Lucknow after circling Kathmandu. Several other flights hovered over Nepal awaiting clearance. Aviation officials confirmed operations were suspended for safety. The airport closure added to Nepal’s crisis as unrest spread across major cities. (PC: X)
