Nepal Army chief General Ashok Raj Sigdel has appealed to Gen Z protesters to end violence and join talks. The unrest continued even after Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli resigned, following 19 deaths in police action. Protesters torched Parliament, the President’s Office, and leaders’ homes. The Army announced it would take charge of security from Tuesday night, warning against groups misusing the crisis. Sigdel, appointed Army chief in 2024, trained in Nepal, India, and China, has UN peacekeeping experience, and was honored in India.
