Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Manipur on Saturday, his first trip since ethnic clashes broke out in May 2023. The violence killed at least 260 people and displaced thousands. Modi will arrive in Churachandpur, one of the worst-hit districts, to meet displaced families and lay the foundation stone for projects worth Rs 7,300 crore. Later, he will travel to Imphal to inaugurate projects worth Rs 1,200 crore. Officials say the visit aims to promote peace and development. Opposition leaders, however, called the visit “too little, too late” and demanded a concrete plan for justice and rehabilitation. (PC: X)
