Former Chief Justice Sushila Karki will be sworn in as Nepal’s interim Prime Minister at President Ram Chandra Paudel’s residence tonight. Her appointment comes four days after KP Oli resigned following massive anti-corruption protests. During her first Cabinet meeting, Karki is expected to recommend a nationwide emergency. Nepal’s Gen Z groups, leading the protests, have agreed to support her leadership under conditions, including the dissolution of Parliament. Their leader Sudan Gurung said a cabinet aligned with youth expectations must be formed. Karki, known for her tough stance on corruption, is an alumnus of Benaras Hindu University (BHU).
