A powerful earthquake of 5.8 magnitude hit Assam on Thursday at 4:41 pm. The epicentre was in Udalguri district, with a depth of 5 km, officials said. Strong tremors shook Guwahati, forcing people to rush out of their homes in fear. “My legs are still shaking,” one resident shared on social media. Another said, “It felt like the roof would cave in.” People described the quake as terrifying and endless. No damage to life or property has been reported.
