Opposition parties attacked the BJP government for allowing India to play Pakistan in the Asia Cup, accusing it of “choosing profit over blood.” Leaders said the decision insulted victims of the Pahalgam terror attack in April, where civilians were killed. Congress leader Gaurav Gogoi said the government “betrayed national sentiment” and cared more about money than people’s pain. Protests were held in Mumbai, Delhi, and other cities. Shiv Sena (UBT) members burnt Pakistan’s flag, while Congress and AAP urged the public to boycott the match. The government has allowed play at multinational events but still bars bilateral matches.
