Two Assam Rifles jawans were killed and five others injured after unidentified gunmen ambushed a convoy in Manipur’s Bishnupur district on Friday evening. The attack took place around 6 pm near Nambol Sabal Leikai on National Highway 2, when troops from the 33 Assam Rifles were moving towards Bishnupur. The Defence PRO, Guwahati, said the injured were evacuated to RIMS hospital and are stable. No group has claimed responsibility yet. Security forces have launched search operations to track the attackers. Former Manipur chief minister N Biren Singh visited the hospital to meet the injured and condemned the assault. (PC: NDTV)
