UK Foreign Secretary Yvette Cooper said the UK and NATO would confront Russian planes operating in NATO airspace without permission. Speaking at the UN Security Council in New York, she called Russia’s actions “dangerous and reckless” and warned they could lead to direct armed conflict. “We stand ready to take all steps necessary to defend NATO’s skies and territory,” Cooper said. She expressed full solidarity with allies and warned President Putin of the risks. France, Slovakia, and other nations echoed her condemnation.
