Kolkata faced its heaviest rain in 37 years, leaving at least 10 people dead and large parts of the city flooded. The city recorded 251.4 mm of rain in less than 24 hours, the highest since 1988. Streets, train tracks, and metro lines were waterlogged, disrupting transport, schools, and offices. Over 30 flights were cancelled and many delayed. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) warned of more rain due to a low-pressure system. Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee blamed the Damodar Valley Corporation and poor dredging for worsening floods. Many Durga Puja pandals were damaged as workers struggled to pump water out. (PC: X)
