Russia is targeting UK military satellites on a weekly basis, the head of UK Space Command has warned. Maj Gen Paul Tedman told the BBC that Russian satellites often fly close to British ones to gather data, while ground systems regularly jam signals. He said the interference has increased since Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. The UK has only six dedicated military satellites, compared to hundreds owned by the US, China, and Russia. Gen Tedman called Russia the more immediate threat, warning of anti-satellite weapons and laser systems. He urged more investment as £450bn of the UK economy depends on space. (PC: BBC)
